Publications on Transgender

This is the first round of the IBBS survey conducted among men who have sex with men (MSM) and Transgender (TG) population in the selected eight districts of Terai Highway regions of Nepal.

In Laos, LINKAGES is taking both fear of harassment and lack of access out of the testing equation for men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women in three communities. The project introduced a community-based model of HIV testing with OraQuick—a relatively new rapid oral HIV test that requires neither specialized equipment nor highly trained providers to administer it.

Since 1994, the Advisory Council on AIDS (ACA) has produced five sets of recommended strategies for Hong Kong to advise the government on her responses to HIV/AIDS, including programmes and services, funding and policies.

Project Inform and Outshine NW partnered to write this PrEP resource guide for women who are transgender and for other trans/gender-variant people who were assigned male sex at birth. 

The Asia Pacific Transgender Network has released a Transgender Day of Remembrance Media Toolkit and terminology resource to guide the media to a fair and inclusive coverage and reporting on transgender people. 

The purpose of the information series is to provide detailed guidance for lawmakers, policymakers, judiciaries, health service providers, civil society and other stakeholders, to support the adoption and effective implementation of laws, policies and programmes to respect, protect and fulfill women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Compilation of the data on the 2015 Integrated HIV Behavioral and Serologic Surveillance among males/transgenders who have sex with males (M/TSM), freelance female sex workers (FFSW), male entertainment establishment workers (MEW), transgender women (TGW), injecting drug users (IDU) male and female in different locations.

Nepal has been conducting HIV and STI surveillance particularly among key populations, namely: PWID, FSW and their clients, MSM/TG, and male labor migrants for more than a decade mainly to track changes in HIV and STI prevalence along with behavioral components such as condom use. Hepatitis-B and C screening among PWID has been started in the IBBS surveys from 2015.

The size estimation of key population in districts was conducted in 2010. The population size is to be updated in every 2-3 years interval.

This brief seeks to strengthen the ability of programmers and policymakers to understand and respond to HIV risks faced by transgender people around the world in order to reduce the burden of HIV in and protect the rights of trans communities.
