In more than 50% of cases, untreated syphilis in pregnant women can result in numerous adverse outcomes of pregnancy including stillbirths, premature or low birth weight infants, neonatal deaths or birth of a congenital syphilitic baby. Congenital syphilis is an easily preventable and curable disease, which can be eliminated through effective screening of pregnant women for syphilis and adequate treatment of those infected.

The National Data Analysis Plan (NDAP) is a first of-its-kind activity for a public health programme, whereby data has been systematically analysed to address programmatic queries raised during the end phase of the National AIDS Control Programme Phase III.

Mainstreaming approaches to HIV have increasingly gained ground with the realization that the non-health sector can play an important and meaningful role in reducing vulnerability to HIV and mitigating its impact on those infected and affected. Though HIV is preventable, currently there is no cure for it. It can be best described as “a manageable condition”.

The booklet has been designed to facilitate the work of Midwives (ANMs), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) members who are working as front-line workers in the area of reproductive health, nutrition, empowerment and poverty alleviation programmes.

The present 'National HIV Counselling and Testing Services Guidelines 2016' provides extensive details on the different strategic approaches with implementation plan to scale up the reach and coverage of services to priority populations.

A National Consultation on legal protection for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS was organized by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on 21st December 2015. The objectives of the consultation was to deliberate on mechanisms for enhancing access to legal support by PLHIV and key populations and strengthen the mechanism of legal aid being provided by National Legal Service Authority , State Legal Service Authority & District Legal Service Authority and Taluk Level Service Authority.

This report has been developed to guide the Lab technicians regarding procedures of HIV testing services and provider initiated testing and counselling (PITC) among presumptive TB and diagnosed TB cases. The valuable inputs provided by experts from RNTCP and NACP in developing this document are appreciated.

To mitigate the effect of dual burden of HIV and TB co-infection the ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India through its National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and Central TB Division has been undertaking joint collaborative efforts as per the National Framework for HIV TB collaborative activities in India.

This training module covers the skills and strategies required in Vihaan staff at every level to ensure that HIV-TB co-infection is promptly and properly addressed.

The Annual Sentinel Surveillance 2007 round was carried from 1st October 2007 to 15th January 2008 in all the states in India.
