The main purpose of the document is to standardize methodologies for surveillance across multiple sites. Additionally, the document can also serve as a training aid and a reference manual for supervision, monitoring and quality assurance.

The annual HIV Sentinel Sero‐surveillance survey, the systematic and regular collection of information on the occurrence, distribution and trends of HIV infection and factors associated with the infection, has been carried out since 1992.

This report summarises the findings of the 7th round of HIV serological surveillance, which has been carried out during the period from January-June 2006.

The 8th round of annual HIV surveillance is the result of the combined efforts and contributions of many individuals and organizations. Thanks are due to all those listed below as well as to the many participants who gave their blood and shared some of their personal information.

HIV Sentinel Surveillance is one of the key components of second generation surveillance system in India to track the HIV epidemic in the country with the objective of understanding the level and trends of HIV epidemic among different population groups as well as to identify the spread of the epidemic to new pockets.

In October 2020, there were 735 confirmed HIV-positive individuals reported to the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP). Twenty one percent (153) had clinical manifestations of advanced HIV infectiona at the time of testing. Ninety-six percent (704) of the reported cases were male. The median age was 28 years old (age range: 3-60 years old). More than half of the cases (52%, 379) were 25-34 years old and 28% (204) were 15-24 years old at the time of diagnosis.
