Behavioural and serological surveys

The findings in this report are in general very encouraging as it shows that the overall prevalence of HIV in populations most at risk remains below 1% and most importantly, HIV prevalence has declined among people who inject drugs in Dhaka from 7% to 5.3%. Moreover, hepatitis C has also decline which is a marker for unsafe injecting practices

The survey aimed to improve the understanding the situation of HIV and sexually transmitted infections in female sex workers. The result would help a better prevention programme planning in Hong Kong.

From September 2013 to February 2014 a cross sectional survey was conducted to assess changes in risk behaviours and prevalence of HIV and active syphilis among MSM, MSW, and hijra.

The main objective of this study is “to estimate the prevalence of HIV among IDUs and assess their role in the transmission of HIV.” The study was conducted in Pokhara Valley of Kaski districts.

The revised Integrated HIV Behavioral and Serologic Surveillance (IHBSS) system was implemented in 2005.

CRiSP was done for the first time in 2006, revealing an HIV prevalence of 0.19% in female sex workers (FSW). In 2009, Department of Health commissioned Chinese University of Hong Kong to repeat the CRiSP survey.

The 2013 surveillance findings indicate a continuing high-level HIV epidemic among IDU in Cebu Province and expanding epidemics among MSM and FFSW.

Compilation of the data on the 2015 Integrated HIV Behavioral and Serologic Surveillance among males/transgenders who have sex with males (M/TSM), freelance female sex workers (FFSW), male entertainment establishment workers (MEW), transgender women (TGW), injecting drug users (IDU) male and female in different locations.
