Publications on People Who Inject Drugs (PWID)

Scientific advances over the past 20 years have shown that drug addiction is a chronic, relapsing disease that results from the prolonged effects of drugs on the brain.

The first round of the Integrated Behavioural and Biological Assessment (IBBA) was implemented in 29 districts in six states, i.e., Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, and Nagaland.

This paper has two objectives. The first is to examine the robustness of two different epidemiological models; these models were used to determine the impact of IDU interventions in Nepal when interventions are scaled-up to reach 60% of IDUs, as recommended by UNAIDS. The second objective is to disseminate the outcome of two cost-effectiveness analyses of IDU interventions in Nepal.

This report presents the findings and conclusions from the fifth round of the national HIV serological and behavioural surveillance that was conducted between June 2003 and March 2004.

The first round of behavioural surveillance produced some very interesting results. Six groups considered at risk of HIV infection were surveyed between October 2006 and March 2007.

The present report would provide the detailed findings of BSS 2006 conducted among two high-risk population groups of IDUs and MSM, about their awareness, knowledge, attitude, and behaviour with regards to STD/HIV/AID

From October 2005 to June 2006, IBBS was conducted among selected population groups in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), An Giang, and Can Tho.

The findings presented here are part of the round one surveillance activities carried out in eight cities of Pakistan by the National AIDS Control Program through its HIV/AIDS Surveillance Project
