In this report, Do no harm: health, human rights and people who use drugs, UNAIDS shows what works to reduce the impact of HIV and other harms related to drug use.

In Hong Kong, the number of HIV cases transmitted through injecting drug use (IDU) has remained low up till now and contributed to less than 5% of all reported cases cumulatively. However, the potential risk of cluster outbreak and rapid upsurge of infection among the IDU population is always a concern. To monitor HIV-related risk behaviours and access to HIV testing services among IDU, this population has been included as one of the four at-risk populations in the HIV/AIDS Response Indicator Survey (HARiS) implemented since 2013.

The HARiS was conducted via commissioning to the Stanley Ho Centre for Emerging Infectious Disease, School of Public Health and Primary Care of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The third round of it was conducted in 2015.

This is the sixth round of the IBBS survey conducted among Female Sex Workers (FSWs) in 22 highway districts of Nepal.

This is the fifth round of Integrated Biological and Behavioral (IBBS) survey conducted among People who Inject Drugs (PWIDs) male in 7 Terai highway districts of Western, Mid-Western and Far-Western regions of Nepal.

Since 1994, the Advisory Council on AIDS (ACA) has produced five sets of recommended strategies for Hong Kong to advise the government on her responses to HIV/AIDS, including programmes and services, funding and policies.

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), “the daily use of antiretrovirals in HIV-uninfected people to block the acquisition of HIV infection,” is a new tool for preventing HIV transmission and has sparked considerable discussion and debate in many communities.

Project Inform and Outshine NW partnered to write this PrEP resource guide for women who are transgender and for other trans/gender-variant people who were assigned male sex at birth. 

This brief aims to inform program implementers and policymakers on the key issues faced by sex workers, what has worked in HIV prevention efforts with sex workers, and actions that can be taken to better meet the needs of sex workers in the future.

The purpose of the information series is to provide detailed guidance for lawmakers, policymakers, judiciaries, health service providers, civil society and other stakeholders, to support the adoption and effective implementation of laws, policies and programmes to respect, protect and fulfill women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
