Options and Challenges for Converging HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in India. Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (2007)

Options and Challenges for Converging HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in India. Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (2007) This report is primarily for state- and district-level policymakers and service providers working in the government and in nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) in India. The report aims to share findings from an assessment carried out by PATH to explore how access to critical services for populations at risk of HIV and unintended pregnancy can be strengthened by converging HIV and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP). The report provides information on the demand and opportunities for and the challenges of implementing HIV and SRH convergence in four states—Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.

Prevalence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection, Risk Behavior, and HIV Knowledge among Tuberculosis Patients in Afghanistan. Todd CS, Barbera-Lainez Y, Doocy SC, et al (2007)

Prevalence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection, Risk Behavior, and HIV Knowledge among Tuberculosis Patients in Afghanistan. Todd CS, Barbera-Lainez Y, Doocy SC, et al (2007) HIV prevalence among tuberculosis patients in Afghanistan is currently quite low. However, lack of knowledge of HIV and engaging in high-risk practices, particularly regarding health, make this group vulnerable. Health education sessions regarding HIV, sexually transmitted infection, and blood-borne infections should be implemented for tuberculosis patients during the treatment course.

Committed to Caring Older Women and HIV & AIDS in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS and HelpAge International (2007)

Committed to Caring Older Women and HIV & AIDS in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS and HelpAge International (2007) HIV and AIDS can prove devastating in undermining traditional support structures that sustain many families in Asia, reversing the expectation that parents will be looked after by their adult children as they become older. Instead, older people, primarily women, are confronted with the task of caring for a sick adult child, coping with their eventual death, and possibly looking after a surviving grandchild.
