Lao PDR 2009 Surveillance Surveys: Behavioral Survey among Service Women and Integrated Biological and Behavioral Surveillance Survey among Men who have Sex with Men in Luang Prabang. Center for HIV/AIDS/STI Lao (2009)

Second Generation Surveillance (SGS) aims to develop and enhance existing surveillance system for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV/AIDS and behavioral surveillance systems. The outcome should be high quality epidemiological data to support the design and evaluation of interventions.

Integrated Behavioral and Biological Surveillance: A Pilot Study in Karachi and Rawalpindi 2004-05. National AIDS Control Program Pakistan and HIV/AIDS Surveillance Project (2006)Integrated Behavioral and Biological Surveillance (IBBS) uses special tools and methodologies for collecting complex behaviors of high risk groups of HIV/AIDS. National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) alongwirth HIV/AIDS Surveillance Project (HASP) conducted a pilot survey in Karachi and Rawalpindi to test various tools for IBBS and to determine status and variations of behaviors (unsafe sex and injecting drugs) followed by programmatic recommendations for addressing the current HIV epidemic in Pakistan.

Integrated Biological and Behavioral Surveillance: Summary Report - Balochistan -Round 1, 2005-06. National AIDS Control Program Pakistan, Balochistan AIDS Control Program and Canada-Pakistan HIV/AIDS Surveillance Project (2006)The findings presented here are part of the round one surveillance activities carried out in 08 cities of Pakistan by the National AIDS control Program through its Canada-Pakistan HIV/AIDS Surveillance project (HASP). The basic goal of this research is to estimate and map the various HIV high risk groups in Pakistan, including IDUs & Commercial sex workers; estimate prevalence of HIV infection and collect behavioral data for monitoring of the epidemic and its associated factors in the country.

IBBS among Truckers in East-West Highways Round III- 2006. FHI, New ERA and STD/AIDS Counseling and Training Services (2006) This study is the third round of the integrated bio-behavioral survey (IBBS) conducted among truckers in Pathlaiya, Bara district. The IBBS was carried out during the months of January and March 2006. The survey measured HIV and syphilis prevalence among truckers and variables which are associated with risk of HIV infection, such as condom use, sexual behaviors, knowledge of HIV/AIDS, reported cases of sexually transmitted infections (STI), STI treatment behaviors, exposure to HIV/AIDS messages and drug habits. This survey was also undertaken to compare the findings for condom use and sexual behavior of truckers driving on the east-west highway with findings from the previous rounds. The previous two rounds of the survey were conducted in 1999 and 2003 in Hetauda.

IBBS among Female Sex Workers Pokhara Valley Round II - 2006. FHI, New ERA and STD/AIDS Counseling and Training Services (2006) This study is the second round of the integrated bio-behavioral survey (IBBS) conducted among 200 female sex workers (FSWs), both street and establishment based, in Pokhara. The IBBS was carried out during the months of January and February 2006. The survey measured HIV and syphilis prevalence among FSWs and variables which are associated with risk of HIV infection, such as condom use, sexual behaviors, knowledge of HIV/AIDS, reported cases of sexually transmitted infections (STI), STI treatment behaviors, exposure to HIV/AIDS messages and drug habits. This survey was also undertaken to compare the findings for condom use and sexual behavior of FSWs in Pokhara from this study with findings from the 2004 study.

The IBBS was carried out during the months of January and March 2006. The survey measured HIV and syphilis prevalence among FSWs and variables which are associated with a risk of HIV infection, such as condom use, sexual behaviors, knowledge of HIV/AIDS, reported cases of sexually transmitted infections (STI), STI treatment behaviors, exposure to HIV/AIDS messages and drug habits. This survey was also undertaken to compare the findings for condom use and sexual behavior of the FSWs in the Kathmandu valley from this study with findings from the 2004 study.

National AIDS Control Program Pakistan, Punjab AIDS Control Program and Canada-Pakistan HIV/AIDS Surveillance Project (2006)The findings presented in this report are part of the round one surveillance activities carried out in 03 cities of Punjab by the National AIDS control Program / Punjab AIDS control Program    through    its    HIV/AIDS Surveillance    project    (HASP).    The purpose of present study was to map the vulnerable population like Injecting Drug Users (IDU), Female Sex Workers (FSW), Male Sex Workers (MSW) and Eunuch Sex Workers (ESW) in Punjab.
