The fourth round of the Integrated Biological and Behavioral Surveillance (IBBS) surveys among female sex workers (FSWs) covered a sample of 938 respondents in Kathmandu valley – Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts (n=593) and Pokhara valley (n=345), henceforth, referred to as Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Nepal conducted a mapping and size estimation exercise of Most-at-Risk Population groups (MARPs) in consideration of the epidemic's nature, availability of limited information on the MARP groups of Female Sex Workers (FSWs), Men who have sex with Men (MSMs) and injecting drug user (IDUs) population and the need for a more robust and evidence informed response to HIV for maximizing results.

Full Report IBBS MSM 2007 Final

This report documents the findings of the second round of IBBS conducted among 400 MSM in the Kathmandu Valley. The primary objective of the study was to collect strategic information to analyze trends in risk behavior and HIV/STI prevalence rates among MSM.

Globally, an estimated 17 million women and girls are living with HIV, and more than two million pregnancies occur amongst HIV-positive women each year. In 2009, an estimated 370,000 children acquired HIV. While the total number of children being born with HIV has decreased due to the increased access to services that support women living with HIV to have HIV-free babies (usually referred to as prevention of mother-to-child transmission to PMTCT), the majority of remaining cases occur in resource-poor nations.

The primary focus of the 2011 NDHS was to provide estimates of key population and health indicators, including fertility and mortality rates, for the country as a whole and for urban and rural areas separately. In addition, the sample was designed to provide estimates of most key variables for the 13 ecodevelopment regions (stratums).

UNGASS Country Report of the Philippines January 2006 to December 2007. Philippine National AIDS Council (2008) The first cases of AIDS were reported in Nepal in 1988. Available epidemiological
data in Nepal indicate a low-prevalence among the general population - ANC: 0.2%
(1999), FP attendees 0.3% (1999), blood donors 0.48% (Kathmandu, 2001). As of
March 2003, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has reported 635 cases of AIDS and 2,755
HIV infections.

Treatment Access_for_Positive_MSM_in_the_Asia_Pacific

In collaboration with various community-based organisations, APN+ conducted a peer-led mixed method research project in six Asian countries (India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, and Singapore) to document the range of services available for
MSM and transgender people living with HIV and to identify barriers to access and use of these services.
