National HIV serosurveillance data for Vietnam have indicated a steady increase in the prevalence of HIV. This trend has been particularly noticeable among injecting drug users (10.1% in 1996 to 32% in 2002) and female sex workers (FSWs) (0.6% in 1994 to 6.6% in 2002).

Analysis of the Situation of Children and Women in DPR Korea. UNICEF (2006) Female sex workers and their male clients have been identified as risk groups for the transmission of STDs and HIV. Behavioural interventions targeting clients need to address inconsistent condom use among them. The aim of the study is to assess the sociodemographic, behavioural, and psychological factors associated with inconsistent condom use among clients of sex workers.

This measure usually relies on FSW reports, which may be biased. We examined condom availability data in five Karnataka districts to estimate the proportion of FSW sex acts potentially protected by condoms.

The study was designed to fill gaps in knowledge about the sex industry in PNG and to map the sale and exchange of sex in Port Moresby to create a richer and more detailed understanding of sex workers and their vulnerability to HIV.

IBBS 2009, Round IV, Female Sex Workers (FSWs), 22 Terai Highway Districts Fact Sheet. USAID, ASHA Project and National Center for AIDS and STD Control (2009) The fourth round of Integrated Biological and Behavioral Surveillance (IBBS) Survey among female sex workers (FSWs) was conducted in 2009. A total of 600 FSWs were recruited for the study, out of them 400 were recruited from six study sites representing 16 districts between Jhapa district in the Eastern region and Rupandehi district in the Western region along the highway in the Terai.
