The new National HIV and AIDS Strategy, 2011-2015 seeks to build on past achievements and address shortcomings in PNG’s response to the HIV epidemic. The NHS replaces the National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDS, 2006-2010 (NSP). Its overarching goal is to reduce transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI) and minimise their impact on individuals, families and communities. Download this publication |

The National AIDS Council (NAC), working in close collaboration with all partners, has developed a new National HIV and AIDS Strategy (NHS) to guide Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) response to the HIV epidemic over the period 2011 to 2015. The NHS is published as a separate document. The NHS Implementation Framework, (that is, this document), is a companion document to the NHS, designed to guide partners with how they go about implementing the NHS. Download this publication |

To evaluate the effectiveness of the scaled-up ‘Safe Highway’ HIV intervention program among female sex workers (FSWs) in the Terai region of Nepal after a quasi-experimental pre-surveillance study demonstrated the efficacy of the program on a limited scale. Methods: Analysis of data from multiple rounds of behavioral surveillance surveys (BSS, 1998-2002) and integrated bio-behavioral surveys (IBBS, 1999, 2003, 2006) conducted among FSWs.
