png_NHS_main The new National HIV and AIDS Strategy, 2011-2015 seeks to build on past achievements and address shortcomings in PNG’s response to the HIV epidemic. The NHS replaces the National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDS, 2006-2010 (NSP). Its overarching goal is to reduce transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI) and minimise their impact on individuals, families and communities.

png_NHS_imp_framework The National AIDS Council (NAC), working in close collaboration with all partners,
has developed a new National HIV and AIDS Strategy (NHS) to guide Papua New
Guinea’s (PNG) response to the HIV epidemic over the period 2011 to 2015. The NHS
is published as a separate document. The NHS Implementation Framework, (that is, this document), is a companion document to the NHS, designed to guide partners with how they go about implementing the NHS.

one’ of the ‘three ones principles’ of having one national M&E system which is linked
to the National HIV and AIDS Strategy 2011–2015 (NHS). Like any fully functioning

Monitoring the Situation of Children and Women: Thailand Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey December 2005 – February 2006. National Statistical Office and UNICEF (2007) To evaluate the effectiveness of the scaled-up ‘Safe Highway’ HIV intervention program among female sex workers (FSWs) in the Terai region of Nepal after a quasi-experimental pre-surveillance study demonstrated the efficacy of the program on a limited scale.

Methods: Analysis of data from multiple rounds of behavioral surveillance surveys (BSS, 1998-2002) and integrated bio-behavioral surveys (IBBS, 1999, 2003, 2006) conducted among FSWs.

National HIV & AIDS Strategic Plan 2007-2011. Ministry of Health Fiji. (2006)

The Strategic Plan 2007-2011 for the Ministry of Health is the culmination of wide consultations with a wide range of stakeholders in the private sector, non-government organisations (especially our partners in health), the central government with the National Strategic Development Plan 2007-2011 which draws extensively from the Manifesto of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua Party and consensus reached with the Fiji Labour Party on issues of national importance, towards the achievement of the Vision of a Peaceful and Prosperous Fiji.
