This report summarizes the findings of 2011 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Surveys (BDHS) conducted under the authority of the National Institute of Population Research and Training (NIPORT) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and implemented by Mitra and Associates of Dhaka. ICF International provided financial and technical assistance for the survey through USAID/Bangladesh. The BDHS is part of the worldwide Demographic and Health Surveys program, which is designed to collect data on fertility, family planning, and maternal and child health. |

The primary focus of the 2011 NDHS was to provide estimates of key population and health indicators, including fertility and mortality rates, for the country as a whole and for urban and rural areas separately. In addition, the sample was designed to provide estimates of most key variables for the 13 ecodevelopment regions (stratums). |

The sample was designed such that resulting statistics can be calculated for the country as a whole and for urban and rural areas. Survey estimates can also be reported for 19 study domains. The District Level Household and Facility Survey is one of the largest ever demographic and health surveys carried out in India, with a sample size of about seven lakh households covering all districts of the country. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, initiated the District Level Household and Facility Survey (DLHS) in 1997 to provide district level estimates on health indicators to assist policy makers and program administrators in decentralized planning, monitoring and evaluation. |

The 2010 Cambodia Demographic and Health Survey (CDHS) is a nationally representative sample survey of 18,754 women and 8,239 men age 15-49. The 2010 CDHS is the third comprehensive survey conducted in Cambodia as part of the worldwide MEASURE DHS project. The primary purpose of the CDHS is to provide policymakers and planners with up-todate, reliable data on fertility; family planning; infant, child, and maternal mortality; maternal and child health; nutrition; malaria; knowledge of HIV/AIDS, and women’s status. |
 | The Republic of Maldives is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean located 600 km south of India. Its islands extend from latitude 0° 42 ' 24 " S of the equator to 7 ° 6 ' 35 " N. It consists of 1,192 small islands that form a chain, about 820 km long and 120 km wide, within an area of 90,000 sq km. Only 196 of the islands are officially inhabited, although another 84 islands are used as resorts, and 14 islands serve an industrial purpose. The capital of Malé, with an area of about 2 sq km, accommodates one-third of the country's population of about 300,000. The total land area is estimated to be 300 sq km, of which only 10 percent are suitable for agriculture. Download this publication |
 | The 2009-10 Timor-Leste Demographic and Health Survey (TLDHS) is the second nationallevel population and health survey conducted in Timor-Leste and the first conducted as part of the global Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) program. The sample for the survey was selected independently in every stratum, through a twostage selection process, to provide estimates for each of the 13 districts and for both urban and rural areas of the country. The 2009-10 TLDHS was designed to cover a nationally representative sample of residential households, taking into account nonresponse; to obtain completed interviews of women age 15-49 in every selected household; and to obtain completed interviews of men age 15-49 in every third selected household. The 2009 Kiribati Demographic and Health Survey was the first survey in phase two of Pacific DHS Project with funding support from ADB. The primary objective of this survey was to provide up-to-date information for policy-makers, planners, researchers and programme managers, for use in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating population and health programmes within the country. The survey was intended to provide key estimates of Kiribati’s demographic and health situation. |
